Glatzer, Nahum Norbert
(1903-90)
   American scholar, teacher and editor. He was born in Lemberg. He became professor of Jewish philosophy and ethics at the University of Frankfurt am Main in 1932. In the next year he left Germany and settled in Palestine, where he taught at Bet Sepher Reali in Haifa. From 1938 he lived in the US, and became professor of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University in 1956. He was also a director of the Leo Baeck Institute. His writings include studies of talmudic history, the history of 19th-century Jewry, and the life and thought of Franz Rosenzweig.
